Heavy Crude Oils — Difficult to Transport, Stable in Water-in-Oil Emulsions
The most common type of oil emulsions encountered under normal oilfield production conditions is the emulsion in which water micro-droplets are dispersed uniformly in oil. The emulsion is made stable by various natural emulsifiers present in the crude. In oil fields producing heavy oils, this water-in-oil emulsion creates serious challenges in both production and transportation of the crude. Heavy oils have very high pour-points which make it almost solid in operating temperatures. Especially when the crude has been pumped out of the well the temperature quickly drops to room temperature which makes the crude almost impossible to transport by piping. The conventional solutions would be to heat the pipe or to add pour-point depressants and/or drag reducer agents. Reducing pour-points by 10 – 15 oC is no easy task even with the most advanced chemistry, while DRAs are not effective for heavy crudes which tend to exhibit laminar flows. So, difficult challenges need a radical approach to solve.
Dispersoil™ — A New Approach to Reduce Oil Viscosity
Our expert team always performs tireless efforts to bring solutions to oil & gas industry – and now we have come up with a breakthrough solution for transporting heavy crudes – Dispersoil™.
Dispersoil™ product range consists of our proprietary customized formulations of most advanced dispersing agents. With agitation provided by pumping action or high shear agitators the powerful chemistry turns the viscous water-in-oil emulsion into an oil-in-water mixture system. The heavy crude thus now exhibits a much lower apparent viscosity typical of any water based system. This makes pumping without heating possible. However, the amazing benefits of Dispersoil ™ do not stop here. Our Dispersoil™ technology has indeed combined two dispersion characteristics that were formerly mutually exclusive stability and breakability. Dispersoil™ -treated dispersions are stable for pumping and transport, but separate efficiently into reusable water and saleable oil.
Dispersoil™ Benefits:
- Eliminates expensive, volatile diluents
- Improves pump efficiency
- Reduces greenhouse gas emission
- Increases production rate
- Enhances safety
- Easy Water Separation at receiving station
- Reduces transportation, storage and handling costs
- Reduces Total Cost of Operation
